February 2014 - Botley wins the Darby
Oxfordshire’s leading commercial property agents, VSL & Partners, has secured an off-market deal for Darbys Solicitors LLP, who will move to Midland House in Botley during the first quarter of 2014.
Darbys will occupy 16,400 sq ft of office accommodation in the landmark building, which signifies a gateway to Oxford. They will carrying out a full refurbishment to provide a modern open plan working environment which will facilitate the firms expansion plans in Oxford.
Commenting on the deal, Richard Venables of VSL said: “Through our knowledge of the Oxfordshire market we have been able to secure a prime location for Darbys who have been looking to move office for some time.
With the shrinking supply of office floor space in the City Centre and increasing demand, the market emphasis will begin to shift during 2014 to become more landlord focused.”
Darbys' Managing Partner Simon McCrum says: "We needed a new home to accommodate the growth we are enjoying and to give us a much more modern and upgraded working space. We are committed to central Oxford, and Botley is the perfect solution for us, our clients and our people. This move also brings our Oxford space in line, in quality and feel, with our offices in Manchester and Colchester. We are investing heavily in our new home and in the new IT system that’ll make it all work.”
The landlord of Midland House is BA Pension Fund and Darbys has agreed a 17-year lease. The firm’s current Oxford office is in New Inn Hall Street with offices also located in Thame and Manchester.
