VSL Announce Oxford Playhouse Membership
VSL & Partners has become Business Club members of the Oxford Playhouse.
In announcing the membership Richard Venables, director at VSL said: “As a local business, we are very pleased to support the Oxford Playhouse, we believe this is a mutually beneficial relationship, which enables us to support this important local institution whilst providing exciting benefits for our staff.“
Oxford Playhouse is one of Britain’s most respected theatres which generate huge support for up-and-coming artists and presents over 800 performances each year by over 100 companies. And apart from enriching the culture by staging a comprehensive range of events, it also plays a valuable role in inspiring young people in the area through its community involvement programmes.”
Jessica Dixon, Development Officer at the Oxford Playhouse explains: “We are delighted to welcome VSL & Partners to our Business Club. The support of our Business Club members and sponsors is essential to our continued success and enables us to continue our important work both on and off the stage."
As part of their commitment to supporting businesses and encouraging culture in Oxfordshire VSL takes part in many local initiatives, including Experience Oxfordshire in helping to promote tourism and culture across the county.
Most recently VSL has become a member of a new Oxford group known as Reciprocate, which is a collaboration of businesses who meet to discuss corporate social responsibility, the social impact and charitable giving.
Hosted by Oxfordshire Community Foundation (OCF), Reciprocate aims to strengthen community resilience by building stronger, more sustainable capability within local charities and increase awareness of the positive impact responsible businesses can have within Oxfordshire.
Richard explains: “We strongly believe that Oxfordshire’s economic wellbeing is intrinsically linked to its social and cultural strength, so we feel passionately that we should be proactively involved in the cultural and economic development of Oxford city and its surrounds.”
VSL is longstanding corporate sponsors for the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford and is involved in the Oxford Strategic Partnership as well as Cherwell – M40 Investment Partnership (CHIP). Richard Venables is joint Chair of the Oxford City Council Economic Development Steering Group and a private sector board member of the Oxfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership.
